Fitness - Weight Loss
Have you ever noticed that you seem to gain weight during a certain time of year? It could be that your intake is exceeding your output! If this is you, read on...
We get used to eating a certain amount of food every day and yet we tend to forget that our output of energy can change drastically based on things like the time of year. During warm summer months we tend to do more walking, running, bicycling, socializing and so forth. We also eat food that is higher in fiber and lower in fat such as salads. Contrary in winter, we might find ourselves hanging out at home watching more movies and snacking on warmer, heavier foods such as spaghetti and garlic bread. The result? More calories are being consumed in the winter with a decrease of activity. It's no wonder we gain weight!
Of course this is just one possible reason for weight gain. Weight gain occurs for many reasons such as a change in where you live to emotional changes. Whatever the reason the end result is a less than healthy you!
I have found that the best way to start losing weight is to keep a food journal to identify exactly what you eat. An honest journal of every single thing that goes in your mouth for a couple of weeks will be a fantastic reality check. I mean everything from a drink of water to a hard candy to a bite of someone else's sandwich. No one has to read it, just you. And you will be amazed at just what does go in that mouth! I've done this many times in my life and every time I learn so much about my habits! Try it for 2 weeks and see what you find out!
I think it is best to purchase a small spiral notebook that you can easily carry with you. In addition, use this form to monitor how those foods are working for you... or not!
This begins the journey to changing you and your lifestyle one bite at a time.
